Mixed use four storey development in Balsall Heath, Birmingham.

The diverse suburb of Balsall Heath received a contemporary addition with planning permission for this mixed use development. The construction of this sustainable, timber framed building comprises retail outlets, offices and two stories of modern apartments.

The structure comprises structural CLT (cross laminated timber) for the upper stories on a concrete plinth which provides large, clear spans and fire separation from the accommodation above.

The timber is exposed within some of the offices and apartments, with services concealed behind linings where required.
