Library and Learning Hub, Leek College
This comprehensive remodelling and refurbishment of the college library enhances the facility by providing a range of different spaces for learners. The project reconfigured unfit and outdated spaces to create a more open resource area whilst providing small nooks for private reading and research.
Robust finishes and elegantly detailed ‘floating’ ceilings provide excellent acoustic absorbtion, with integrated high efficiency lighting providing good quality lighting across the spaces. The library provides learner support, quiet study, meeting space and contains a college-run coffee shop.
Project undertaken when Andy Hunt was Partner with Hunt Feneley.
Hunt Architects have been using the space as a drop-in studio for the sharing of proposals for the Campus redevelopment, meeting staff and students during the design consultation stage.
“[It’s] a bright and happy space. I think the brightness of the room reflects on to the students and staff.”
